Femoral diaphyseal pseudoarthrosis with atypical presentation, clinical case report

Abstract

Femur fractures affect as the structural integrity but the function of pelvic member so its common the association with significant hemorrhage, soft parts y and high risk compartment syndrome, there is 10-37 per 100,000 cases yearly. Femur shaft fractures are commonly presented in young men because of the frequent presentation of high energy trauma. Regarding, in non-union, after intramedullary nailing there’s under 5% rate of pseudoarthrosis. Non-union is defined as a 9 month fracture which hasn’t demonstrated healing in 3 consecutive months. We present the case of a 21 years old male with femoral shaft fracture secondary to high energy trauma after vehicle accident, where it collides with a car and, actually has 3 surgeries performed why he remains in femoral shaft non-union after a distal intramedullary nail, it is realized a third intervention with proximal intramedullary nail wherein healing is demonstrated after follow-up radiographys.
