In this article we analyze how the socialization processes of young people from Bento Rodrigues, Paracatu de Baixo and Camargos, affected by the collapse of the Fundão Dam, in Mariana-MG, were impacted by suffering and by facing situations of stigmatization resulting from the disaster. The study was theoretically referenced in the Sociology of Education, the Sociology of Youth and the Sociology of Disasters. The research was materialized from bibliographic and documentary analysis, in addition to fieldwork, with 12 interviews. Reports about stigmatization and suffering appeared in all interviews. These young people revealed that they felt strong anguish, despair and fear. The results of the study allowed the conclusion that the socializing experiences of the young people interviewed were taking place in a context of profound affectation in the face of the disaster that completely marked their lives, especially due to its traumatic and compulsory nature, aggravated by the absence of a guarantee of fair and integral reparation.
