Public policies of Environmental Education (AE) are indispensable for coping with the socio-environmental crisis, since they contribute to the insertion of this educational process in the daily life of society and, consequently, in the school reality. Thus, this research sought to analyze the conceptions about the environmental dimension and sustainability present in the Municipal Environmental Education Policy - PMEA (Law No. 3309/05) through Discursive Textual Analysis. From the analyses it was possible to identify in the guidelines of the law in question points that approach the Critical EA but also the Conservative AE, in a very redundant discourse. We also observed some conceptions that have opposite objectives, such as the approach to sustainability and sustainable development, in addition to the understanding now that The EA is a curricular component sometimes that it is an interdisciplinary educational process. Therefore, the intention was the production of a work that advances in the reflections about which meanings and distinct political projects are added to the EA in Aracaju, Sergipe. Believing that such advances in the epistemic and political fields will make it possible to give new meanings to the educational practices of As.
