This study aimed to analyze the level of development of socio-emotional skills and their relationship with social anxiety. 199 nursing students participated in the study. The following were applied: sociodemographic questionnaire, socio-emotional skills scale for university students and CASO scale. The data were processed in the software: SPSS, version 23.0., providing descriptive and statistical analyzes of the sample, and inferential analyzes between the study variables. The results showed lower averages in the factors of emotional self-management and perseverance and higher averages in responsible decision-making and relationship skills. The CASO scale scores indicate a greater likelihood of developing social anxiety in females. Of the 6 Socio-Emotional Skills factors, 4 had negative correlations with the dimensions of social anxiety. Thus, it is suggested that the development of socio-emotional skills presents itself as a relevant strategy to improve students' well-being and prevent social anxiety, generating positive consequences for training and quality of life.
