This article presents data and reflections on high school reform, based on a systematic literature review conducted from September 2021 to January 2022. The objective was to search for the possible gaps left by the selected scientific articles, in order to understand which research paths are possible in the face of the high school reform. This qualitative, documentary investigation utilized journals from the CAPES Qualis Database (covering the four-year period of 2013–2016, the latest evaluation available at the time of our investigation) in the education evaluation area. We focused on A1 classification journals based on databases from Federal and State Universities over the period 2017 to 2021, using the descriptors "high school reform" and "new high school." We observed a significant volume of work related to the reform of secondary education, Law no. 13.415/2017. These studies demonstrate e a wide range of research paths and themes, covering Brazil from the North to the South. They highlight the concerns of researchers through significant studies that address cultural diversity, diverse youth populations, deficiencies and precarious conditions in public schools, and the neglect and devaluation of the teaching profession. These findings serve as a theoretical foundation for many other ongoing studies.
