THE CONCEPTUAL CONSTRUCTION OF THE PRAXIS OF TOLERANCE ACCORDING TO PAULO FREIRE'S STANDARDS

This paper presents part of the results of a bibliographic research at the master's level that has as its object of study the conceptual construction of the praxis of tolerance in the Paulo Freire's theoretical assumptions. The research is guided by the procedures indicated by Salvador (1978), Triviños (1987) and Minayo (1994). We delimited the following objectives for this paper: to analyze the principle of tolerance in Freire and to highlight the contribution of the praxis of Paulo Freire's proposal in the construction of a progressive, solidary, democratic and dialogic education. For data analysis, we followed the Osgood procedure presented by Bardin (2004). The research results indicate that the praxis of tolerance in Freire is intrinsically related to fundamental principles for an education concerned with the process of humanization in the school space. Therefore, the commitment assumed with pedagogical actions based on this praxis subsidizes and favors the emergence of other principles and behaviors necessary for a healthy coexistence between the subjects and between them and the world.
