Abstract

This article(Advances and Applications of Short-Range High-Frequency Wireless Communications.) presents a preliminary review of short-range high-frequency (SHF) communications, examining their operation, characteristics, and applications. SHF communications are based on the use of radio frequencies ranging from 3 to 30 GHz, allowing for greater data transmission capacity and lower interference compared to lower-frequency wireless technologies. These communications can be carried out through point-to-point links or short-range local area networks (LANs).

The article highlights that SHF communications find applications in various sectors. In industrial environments, they are used to enable wireless communication between sensors and actuators in automation and control systems. In the medical field, they enable real-time data transmission between medical devices and monitors. Additionally, they are applied in fields such as virtual and augmented reality, wireless payment systems, and near-field communications.

The methodology used to conduct this preliminary review included comprehensive searches in academic databases and the selection of relevant research articles, technical reports, and books. Studies published within the last ten years were prioritized to ensure the currency of the review.
