Abstract

Introduction. University mathematics education has had to transform its teaching-learning methods to orient itself, both in academic content and the transmission of knowledge, and in the integral development of the human being to address the current problems of society. The logistic equation allows us to model various phenomena in various scientific areas and influence the improvement of these problems. Given that it is very useful in various scientific contexts, we propose the need to show a broad and detailed overview of it, especially at the level of teaching-learning of mathematics, since, in the school context, some students show difficulties related to their understanding. Objective. Show a systematic review of the research carried out on the logistic equation from the field of educational mathematics.  Analysis. The period to analyze includes the years 2000 to 2022, considering those documents that deal with the logistics equation in education. Methodology. Kuckartz's qualitative text analysis was used to collect and analyze the data. Results. The main difficulties related to the logistic equation are in the use of different representations, in learning as a differential equation, and in interdisciplinary communication. The didactic proposals in response to these difficulties use different approaches, technological tools, and diverse theoretical frameworks. Conclusions. Considering the vast applicability of the logistic equation, it is proposed that mathematical modeling is one of the main methodological strategies for learning this equation and its related concepts.
