In order to contribute to the expansion of studies on motherhood, especially those that simultaneously consider gender and race in the academic-scientific context, this research aimed to analyze the experience of motherhood in the daily lives of students and researchers mothers in their insertion at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. To achieve the proposed objective, the investigation was conducted from February 2019 to December 2021 and the interviews took place during the period of social isolation as a biosecurity measure. Involved in my feminist practice, even under virtual and semi-structured format the interviews took place with a type of approximate and sensitive relationship, which did not exempt scientific interaction, on the contrary, it contributed to the production of meaning, acceptance and strengthening. The data obtained show absences at the university, such as data that make motherhood visible in the academic-scientific environment, as well as parenting support policies with guarantee of the insertion and permanence of students, researchers and scientists who are mothers. Analyzed in the light of the theoretical-critical framework of intersectional black feminist thought, especially in the thought of sociologist Patricia Hill Collins in dialogue with Brazilian black intellectuals, there was a complex dynamic that structures and operates social relations in the context of university and science.
