Abstract

This paper presents and analyzes the experiences of the workshops “Digital Food Cultures: Practices for Communication in the Digital Environment”, held in six cities in the northern region of Minas Gerais in 2023. The workshops were part of the activities of the “Digital Food Cultures: connecting people and food” project developed between the State University of Montes Claros and the Federal Institute of Northern Minas Gerais and aimed to promote debate on technological innovation, communication in digital spaces, the valorization of family farming and biodiversity among the community in general, with an emphasis on members of family farming.  This essay presents experience reports on the process of teaching participants with very different levels of technological and digital knowledge and analyzes stratified data on the profile of the participants, seeking to understand how these characteristics may have influenced the training process. It then shows how, during the workshops, it was possible to identify the need to improve the methodology used according to the local context and the characteristics of the participants and discusses the process of digital literacy.
