Intersectionality has been used in many studies related to human rights, and its comprehensive way of categorizing various forms of discrimination has drawn the attention of black authors in particular with regard to the social marker of difference. The main objective of the work is to investigate how the intersections between gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, and territory discrimination influence the interrelations among subjects, shaped by structuring structures that perpetuate oppressive systems, considering the applicability of this methodology in three distinct sociological researches. To this end, we explore the concept of intersectionality both as a theoretical concept and at the same time as adopting intersectionality as an investigative method to aid discussions about the subordination of non-hegemonic bodies. Do the oppressors understand their actions and use them within a logic of maintaining privileges and order, while the oppressed also react rationally? In order to do this, we will make a bibliographical survey of classic authors in intersectional studies, such as the Americans Patricia Hill Collins, Kimberle Crenshaw and Angela Davis and the Brazilians Lélia Gonzalez, Sueli Carneiro and Carla Akotirene. By also trying to create a dialogue between the research that each of us will be doing for our PhD in Sociology at PPGS/UFPE, we exemplify the application of intersectional methodology in our research, which is currently being reviewed.
