Brazil is back on the hunger map. According to data from Rede PENSSAN (2022, 55.2% of Brazilians are experiencing some degree of food insecurity. Among them, 19 million people are suffering from hunger. The main causes cited are the Covid-19 pandemic and the dismantling of public policies. The relationship between gender and food insecurity is highlighted by FAO (2022). According to the agency, this gap grew in 2020, influenced by the Covid-19 pandemic and increased even further in This year, 31.9% of women were in moderate or severe food insecurity, while 27.6% of men were in the same situation (FAO, 2022). Agroecology plays a role of resistance in all of this, as it makes it possible to harvest and fish to eat, local food. Therefore, in this article we propose to discuss how the remodeling of public policies aimed at food production impacts the rates of food insecurity among rural women.
