Torture in Brazil is a reality identified since the country's colonization period and has never stopped being practiced. What is being reorganized are the agreements and configurations of its execution. torture today. The hypothesis was that the multiple torture practices that were created in other historical contexts have their functions and forms updated, and today they are exercised in an articulated manner, giving new meaning to the dimension of punishment, pain and suffering in socio-education spaces. Thus, the objective of the text is to understand the forms of production of torture in the socio-educational system of Rio de Janeiro. To this end, empirical research was carried out, based on bibliographical studies and documentary analysis of 72 documents produced by a state body overseeing the policy of preventing and combating torture, the Rio de Janeiro State Mechanism for Preventing and Combating Torture. (MEPCT/RJ), between 2011 and 2018. The research revealed that torture is constituted, even today, as a technique of power with several figurations that, when articulated, affect collectives and subjects in their individualities and deepen the suffering produced. for the deprivation of juvenile liberty. Two forms of operationalization of torture were identified, one on a population scale and the other on an individual scale, which operate in an articulated manner and build flexible arrangements for executing daily torture, operating as a regular management tool for juvenile bodies.
