It is understood that unique landscapes constitute the cultural heritage of cities, as they are part of citizens' daily lives and are present in social representations. Petrópolis is a city with striking environmental qualities and stands out for the beauty of the place where it is located, where the Atlantic Forest, the cradle where the entire city rests, forms the backdrop of its historical built heritage. This work aims to awaken the view of the landscape and the place in Petrópolis, which houses its cultural and natural heritage. Analyzing poems by Petropolitan authors, or those who talk about the city, we seek to understand how places are formed in the speeches of these artists. Art is a great ally in protecting landscapes and preserving the cultural heritage of places. Literature, more than the visual arts, describes landscapes and places in a broader way, as it can capture, through imagination, the hidden dimensions, what the eyes cannot see. Art, especially literature, which is more accessible to the people, focused on reading places, and consequently, the heritage of cities, contributes to everyone having access to it, recognizing it as an asset that belongs to them, valuing it and wanting to preserve it.
