Abstract

The article reconstitutes the moment of President Dilma Rousseff’s impeachment trial, taking as its cue sequences from documentaries made especially by women directors, about the facts and the president. The article is centered around some of Dilma Rousseff’s comments about the notion of evil. Next, the article reads some excerpts taken from João Guimarães Rosa’s novel, Grande Sertão: Veredas, mentioned by Rousseff in a conversation in one of the films. Passages from the novel had been used by José Miguel Wisnik on a few intervention pieces relating them to recent Brazilian history. The article closes with a brief analysis of the jagunço war motive in Guimarães Rosa’s novel.
