Abstract

According to Maldidier (2003), Michel Pêcheux (1995) postulated the discontinuity between ideology and science, stating that the appearance of reunification between them would reside in the fact that ideology simulates science by mobilizing discursive processes that share the same functioning as verbal materiality. With this study, I seek to reflect on how this simulation takes place, based on what the French philosopher designates as the third element, in order to theorize it and observe it, especially with regard to the use of the conditional connective “if” in the film “Forgotten Love” on Netflix.
