In this paper, we problematize language education in Brazil from the perspective of language policies and rights. I aim to provoke researchers, particularly those who focus on Bakhtin and the Circle and language education in Brazil, to think, on one hand, about the productivity of thinking about Bakhtin's phenomenology and his theory of dialogue in the light of what we can conceive as a perspective of studies on language rights and policies; and to think, in confluence, how it is possible to situate the practice of language education in Brazil from a perspective of language rights and policies assumed through the lenses of Bakhtin and the Circle's thinking.
