To talk about race and racism in Brazil is to enter into a controversial topic and obviously we have no intention in this text to give a definitive answer to this so complex theme. What we intend is just to pose some questions related to the theme of racism in Brazil, so that we can understand how racism structures the daily lives of students in the context of Professional and Technological Education developed on a campus of a Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology. With this objective in mind, at first we held a discussion about the emergence of the idea of race and the forms of reproduction of racism in Brazilian society. In a second moment, we held a discussion about the impacts of racism in Brazilian education, and in the next topic we present data related to a research carried out on a campus of a Federal Institute on the relationship between racism and everyday life.
