The article analyzes recent debates that took place in Rio Grande do Norte at the forefront of the state's public discussion on the contemporary climate crisis. The forums brought together scientists, public managers, social movements and other sectors of civil society, reversing the lack of debate on the environmental crisis and exposing a tension between developmental objectives on the public agenda and the ontological discussion about the future of humanity. Our objective is to analyze the process of building this public agenda based on the attention of academia, the media, the political class and society. We analyzed how the mediatization and dissemination of events took place, articulation between actors, results obtained and future directions. The conclusion is that the preparatory work is fundamental, but it is necessary to guarantee the continuity of the debates, expand the scope and guarantee their reproducibility.
