The present work aims to present cases of murders of politicians in the State of Rio de Janeiro (1988-2022), paying special attention to the case of murders of female politicians. The cases raised here were obtained from newspaper reports available in the National Library's digital newspaper library and news from the mainstream press. In a survey carried out by the author, I demonstrate that women are underrepresented in chambers, but still appear as victims of lethal political violence. The survey recorded a total of 94 politicians murdered throughout the period. Considering only the candidate and elected politicians in the period covered by the state of Rio de Janeiro, 4 women were murdered during the research period and all of them were black women. This indicates the need for an intersectional interpretation to understand the lethality of political violence to an underrepresented group in the state's cities. Although specialized literature on the subject has been gaining ground in recent years, in-depth investigations are still under development. In this sense, this article aims to fill an empirical research gap on the topic.
