Abstract

This article presents results of the research Communication and Childhood, which aimed to identify, in the scientific academic field of Communication, the production of knowledge about childhood. We present a general summary of the collection of Theses and Dissertations defended in Brazil from 1970 to 2020, a period that marks 50 years of the history of Post-Graduate Programs in the area since the year of its creation. Based on quantitative and qualitative data, the methodology involved collection in repositories, use of the Excel program, NVIVO software, and structuring of categories created from the perspective of Sociology of Childhood. Among the main highlights, we evidenced childhood as an object of research little explored in the field and the need to structure theories and methodologies to qualify future research.

She developed the research from 2016 to 2022 at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, at LabGim – Childhood Communication Research Laboratory. Postdoctoral student in Communication at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), Porto Alegre - RS, Brazil. PhD in Communication from PUCRS. Master in Collective Health (UFRGS). Journalist graduated (UFSM). He was a CAPES scholarship holder in the period 2017-2021.
