This article aims to analyze the effectiveness of social restriction policies in the city of Fortaleza-CE, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, it was used, as empirical support, the strategy proposed by Kermack and McKendrick (1927), for diseases of primary infection, and also the study by BAO et al. (2020) about COVID-19. The simulated results indicate that, with the implementation of restrictive policies, there was a reduction in the transmission rate and in the number of cases of the disease
