This is a literature review about the performance of the School and Educational Psychologist at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology (IFET). Data collection was done through the electronic library Scielo, Capes Periodicals, Google, Google Scholar and the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD). Twenty-two productions were selected from articles, book chapters, dissertations and theses. It was observed that there are few productions about the role of the Psychologist in the IFET, although a recent growth has been observed in the last decade. The productions referred to practices in School and Educational Psychology, discussions about demands, challenges and identity of the school and educational psychologist. It was observed that this area of activity still needs a re-signification that considers the institutional determinants in understanding the demands that these professionals face, in addition to delimiting and developing the psychologist's work in this context, having as a guideline the overcoming of the exclusively marketing training.
