The Civic-Military School Program (PECIM) in Brazilian Education aims to implement 216 Civic-Military Schools across the country by the year 2023. The model to be implemented by the Ministry of Education aims to reinforce public schools and is based on the so-called “high level” of the Army's military colleges. This program has served to enhance the adoption of military disciplinary practices as a strategy for improvement and success in education. To deal with this problematization, we made a history of the present. We will relate and support this post-structuralist essay with Michel Foucault and his archeology, delving deeper into issues of knowledge-power of each era, to locate, then, through discourses and statements, the historical conditions and, a priori, the discourse of militarizing public education, which gained strength and reached the place of power. Foucault, in his studies, subverts the notion of linearity and analytical thinking, showing discontinuous historicities; Furthermore, he problematizes the “truth” seen as absolute, universal, investigating the “truth said”. The CAPES theses and dissertations repository served as an analysis tool to locate, through scientific production, the rationality of the time, which gave a condition of possibility for the establishment of the program.
