Brazilian Association of Discourse Analysis (AbrADis), discourse studies, theoretical and methodological differences and collaborative approachesAbstract
The aim of this article is to present the historical background to the founding of the Brazilian Association of Discourse Analysis (Associação Brasileira de Análise do Discurso – AbrADis) in December 2024, as well as the academic rationale, within the field of language studies, that lends legitimacy to the establishment of the Association. Furthermore, drawing on the reflections developed within the different theoretical approaches that make up the field of discourse studies in Brazil, the article examines the Association’s activities with regard to its commitment to policies for the production of scientific knowledge in the country and to the dissemination of research in the field. In short, through an interinstitutional praxis at the local, regional, and national levels, AbrADis innovatively fosters working relationships and scholarly debate among discourse analysts in Brazil.
