Abstract

Introduction: Endometriosis is a chronic disease that may cause pelvic pain, menstrual disorders, dyspareunia, infertility and repercussions on women's daily lives and well-being. Its clinical and psychosocial complexity requires continuous care, in which nursing may play an important role. Objective: To analyse the role of nurses in the care of women with endometriosis based on the available scientific evidence. Methods: An integrative literature review was conducted using PubMed/MEDLINE, the Virtual Health Library, SciELO and Google Scholar, considering publications from 2015 to 2025 in Portuguese, English or Spanish. Study selection followed PRISMA 2020 recommendations, and critical appraisal considered study design. After bibliographic consolidation and removal of duplicates, 25 publications were included. Results: The evidence highlighted needs assessment, welcoming, health education, self-care promotion, pain follow-up, counselling, psychosocial support and coordination with other professionals. Conclusion: Nurses play an important role in the care of women with endometriosis, particularly in needs assessment, education, self-care, pain follow-up, psychosocial support and care coordination. The available evidence remains heterogeneous, supporting the need for further primary studies specifically focused on nursing
