The Fable of a Fall: Mimesis and Narration in Eram Seis Assinalados, by Lindanor Celina

Abstract

It is studied Lindanor Celina’s novel, Eram seis asssinalados, from 1994, which closes the cyclical trajectory of the protagonist Irene, with the objective of observing how the relationship between mimesis and narration is presented, and how these concepts are linked to the dimensions, decisive in this book, of time and memory. For this, it uses an interpretation based on the essay and substantiated on authors who deal with these themes, such as Paul Ricoeur, Aristotle and Walter Benjamin. It is demonstrated that in this writing, the topoi of mimesis and narration, through which both time and memory are represented, are presented through the statute of intrigue, the conflict of times and memories and a theatricalized stylistics. With this configuration, the work exposes a literary experience that, thematically and formally, gives the fundamentals of its relevance and, consequently, of its study. We have a fable of familial and existential downfall that brings to the stage memorial and temporal dimensions as essential elements of the narrative dramatization.
