Abstract

The central issue of this work is to analyze how the right to the city has come to be incorporated into urban discussions in Brasília, especially with regard to the use of public spaces. By examining the Orla da Ponte JK and the transformations in its dynamics of use following the implementation of public policies granting free public transportation on Sundays, it is possible to reflect on how certain actions can broaden the collective appropriation of the city and, even if only partially, challenge the barriers produced by socio-spatial segregation.
