This study assesses the dynamics of relative academic inefficiency of three quantitative curricular units: higher mathematics, statistics applied to tourism, and accounting and finance, within the tourism management program at the Agostinho Neto University School of Hotel and Tourism, between 2015 and 2024. Using the DEA-CRS intertemporal approach with moving windows, performance variations were analyzed based on academic inputs and outputs. The results revealed heterogeneous patterns of inefficiency. The reduced workload was the main source of inefficiency in higher mathematics; the final grade point average and pass rate were critical in statistics applied to tourism; and, paradoxically, the small number of students and the high pass rate generated inefficiencies in accounting and finance. The construction of the DEA-DIFO diagnostic matrix stands out, which maps the sources of inefficiency by curricular unit and by time window. The negative correlation between the number of students and variables such as course load, final grade point average, and pass rate suggests that increased student density is not associated with improved performance at the Agostinho Neto University School of Hotel and Tourism. The adoption of quality-oriented DEA models is recommended to optimize the teaching-educational process and support evidence-based curricular decisions.
