The objective of the following text is to observe the affinities in the interpretations developed by Mariátegui and Sodré, considering the temporal and spatial differences in their respective works. It is assumed that each author prioritizes the study of the historical particularities of Peru and Brazil, both, however, within the broader context of Latin America and Iberian colonization. Despite the vast differences in the realities under focus, both authors conclude that their realities developed hybrid feudal slaving that adapted to the transformations derived from the bourgeois revolutions and, later, from imperialism, without any effective rupture having occurred. Peru – until the 1920s – was unable to create an organic bourgeoisie, unlike Brazil, which developed a dependent capitalism with a bourgeoisie capable of eventually opposing imperialism, in the early 1960s. Thus, the bourgeois democratic revolution should be materialized by a different arc of social forces.
