The process of internationalization in Basic Education has expanded
significantly, underscoring its transformative nature and its relevance in fostering global
citizenship. Considering the different conceptions related to this phenomenon, this article
presents a survey of internationalization initiatives in Basic Education currently implemented
in the state of Amapá, with a focus on the agreements and/or projects established between the
State Department of Education of Amapá and international representatives. This study is bibliographic and documentary in nature, adopting a qualitative and exploratory approach.
The data generated enabled reflections on the growing presence of internationalization in
Basic Education in contemporary society and on the importance of language policies in
strengthening educational cooperation. The findings reveal that, although it is still an incipient
phenomenon, the initiatives developed in the state demonstrate significant progress,
particularly in intercultural and global training, with emphasis on partnerships established
with French institutions. It is concluded that this study contributes both to the theoretical
understanding of the phenomenon of internationalization and to the improvement of public
educational policies in the educational context of Amapá.
