Charlotte Mason, 19th century educator, defined a method that brings together, in education, environmental relations, which she calls “atmosphere”, habits (moral, intellectual and corporal), and qualitative / quantitative issues in the childhood education aspect, and also in complete formation of the human subject. Her method, supported by relationship, application and social, cultural uses and immersion in an appropriate/suitable environment for education, understanding the man as environment product, explores the habits' creation of the body, to develop the physical and psychomotor skills, intellectual habits (mind), to develop intellectual faculties, and moral habits to develop virtues. The habits creation aims at human subject construction as a whole, building a self-teaching ability. Mason also defines education as a life composed by a portfolio with quantitative, qualitative, varied and motivational aspects composed by the concept of living ideas and immersion / coexistence with nature in teaching and learning processes.
Based on the questioning of the genesis of the low childhood education school performance of Brazilian students, factors previously neglected, such as socio-cultural elements, values, habits, family structure and environment in teaching and learning processes, were structured and correlated with the scientific bases (educational, social and neuroscientific) in the light of Charlotte Mason's method, considering the formation and construction of the man subject and his personality as a whole, considering habits creation, immersion in the learning atmosphere and life portfolio proposed by Mason.
