This article presents a geolinguistic study on lexical variation in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, based on two linguistic corpora: the Esboço de um Atlas Linguístico de Minas Gerais (Ribeiro et al., 1977) and data from the Linguistic Atlas of Brazil Project – Minas Gerais. The objective is to describe the lexical variants recorded in Map No. 22 of the EALMG—an essentially rural and monodimensional atlas—and in the ALiB-MG Project—an urban and multidimensional atlas—to carry out a comparative analysis across two synchronic moments: the 1970s and the 2010s. The results indicate signs of language change in both real-time and apparent-time contexts, and reveal lexical areas within Minas Gerais through the diatopic distribution of the documented variants.
