Reviewer Index to stimulate the peer review

Introduction. Peer review or “revisión externa por pares” is an evaluation process used by scientific journals and in order to recognized a document to receive an award or financing and/or to approval a research project. Objective. To describe the different ways to undergo the process and to propose an indicator or index to stimulate the reviewer work in Cuba. Results. The proposed indicator is the Reviewer Index: IR=Ʃ (reviewed paper) (Journal Impact factor) (H-index). Conclusions: Using other previous alternatives it was proposed an indicator or index that takes into account the reviewer experience as author and the journal quality of the journal that requests the review.
