This article critically examines the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on education, distinguishing pedagogical innovation from technological innovation. Moving away from market-driven enthusiasm and technological hype, it argues that AI should be understood as a supporting tool, not as the driver of pedagogical processes. Based on updated research from books and scientific articles, the paper warns that the indiscriminate use of AI may compromise learning and human development. As an alternative, it emphasizes the need for curriculum reform, highlighting the innovative model of IFPR/Jacarezinho, which promotes personalization, individualization, autonomy, and holistic development without replacing teacher mediation. It concludes that the future of education requires an ethical and cautious use of technology, subordinated to humanizing educational purposes.
