We begin by examining the author’s trajectory and her theoretical–epistemological positions, highlighting those aspects we consider important for our own research experiences. Following an overview of the book’s chapters, we focus on the political-administrative, socio-cultural, and socio-institutional dimensions of territorial measures. Our reading is not linear; rather, it brings to the fore the meanings, relationships, and affects that shape young people’s experiences as subjects of a penal measure. It explores the tensions that emerge in the (re)configuration of territory as a site of political intervention and the ways in which practitioners, families, and institutions go “beyond” the measure to position themselves as alternatives to “prison, death, or the hospital.” Our contribution, then, underscores the relevance of intersectional analyses for identifying ruptures, complexities, and heterogeneities both in the field of youth studies and in interventions directed toward young people.
