Linguistic Atlases comprise a set of maps that record the linguistic diversity
of a community, thus holding significant value for documenting phonetic, lexical, and
morphological features of a language. Within this context, this study aims to discuss the most
productive designations for the "shooting star" based on data from linguistic map QSL
00033.a of the Atlas Linguístico de Mato Grosso do Sul - ALMS (Oliveira, 2007, p. 106),
focusing on diatopic variation. The methodology follows that of the ALMS, which covers
32 survey points in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, comprising a total of 128 informants of
both male and female genders. Based on this data, a survey of the most frequent names
recorded on the map was conducted, followed by a grouping that served as the basis for data
discussion and the creation of figures indicating the geographical distribution of occurrences
across the localities. The study is grounded in the theoretical and methodological principles
of Dialectology and Geolinguistics. In conclusion, this work identified the most productive
responses and, through groupings and figures, provided a clearer visualization of the
geographical distribution of the occurrences documented in the ALMS, also enabling data
comparability with other dialectal studies.
