This article aims to analyze discourses “of” and “about” artificial intelligence, with an emphasis on the proposal “AI for the good of all” presented by the Brazilian federal government in July 2024, as well as the statements concerning this proposal circulating in journalistic discourse during the same period. The theoretical and methodological approach is anchored in Pecheutian Discourse Analysis. The theoretical-analytical reflections presented here: take as their starting point the conditions of production of these AI discourses and discourses about AI, which are inscribed within the current Brazilian sociopolitical and economic context; analyze the discourses supporting national sovereignty that permeate the government proposal and examine how it is discursivized when transformed into a journalistic event in the media; and highlight the contradictions in the functioning of discourse about technologies and in their processes of constituting meanings and subjects.
