The social relevance of occupational medical examinations in Brazil

The PL 1083/2021 inspires the need for reflection on the foundations, values, and objectives of occupational medical examinations. This essay, aimed at occupational physicians and any other members and leaders of Brazilian society, reflects on the importance and fundamental objectives of the occupational examination as an epidemiological and preventive instrument for promoting, monitoring, and surveillance of the worker's overall health, with potential benefits for public health and Brazilian society.
