Introduction: The Unified Health System (SUS), established in 1988, ensures universality, comprehensiveness, and equity in healthcare. The National Immunization Program (PNI) is a key SUS policy, recognized for preventing vaccine-preventable diseases. Its implementation spans federal, state, and municipal levels, relying on multiprofessional teams to function effectively. Biomedical professionals bring valuable knowledge and skills, enabling strategic contributions across health areas. This study highlights their relevance within the PNI and the challenges related to structural, operational, and professional recognition. Methodology: A descriptive study was conducted using LILACS, SciELO, PubMed, Google Scholar, and official documents addressing multiprofessional teams, the PNI, biomedical qualifications, and SUS. Results: Findings demonstrate that biomedical expertise aligns with SUS principles and meets PNI needs, supporting operational quality, safety, and efficiency. Conclusion: Biomedical professionals play strategic roles in consolidating the PNI. Although challenges persist regarding recognition and integration, their participation strengthens multiprofessional teams, enhances public health policies, and contributes to effective immunization programs. Their expertise is essential for sustaining and advancing national health initiatives, reinforcing SUS’s principles of comprehensive and equitable care.
