Breastfeeding is an important health promotion measure, and it is essential to understand the factors that contribute to its interruption, such as breast complications. The objective was to determine the prevalence and factors associated with the management of breast complications (BMI) during breastfeeding. This was a retrospective cross-sectional study that analyzed the medical records of 300 postpartum women treated at the Human Milk Bank of Porto Velho, Rondônia, and covered by the Family Health Strategy. Estimates and 95% confidence intervals were generated using the Poisson regression model. BMI, engorgement, mastitis, and fissures occurred in 40.3% of postpartum women, and their management was favorable when the intervention was implemented through the following variables: massage, expression, corrective latch and position, exclusive breastfeeding, corrective position, expression, and corrective latch (p<0.05), respectively. Breast complications were considered high, prevention through guidance on breastfeeding is necessary using correct techniques.
