This article represents an excerpt from a dissertation that evaluates the type of motivation most affected in students from a specific school in the municipality of Caucaia. It examines the broader types of motivation, whether intrinsic or extrinsic, based on studies and research related to the topic. The study then investigates some of the main and most frequent reasons associated with students as the causes of this (de)motivation. Due to the impact of this motivation (or lack thereof) on the teaching and learning process, the need arose to assess the motivational levels of these children and adolescents. The research approach was both qualitative and quantitative, consisting of a case study. In the analysis of the results, variations between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation were observed, aiming to present the incidence of each through percentage data and visualized in percentage graphs.
