This article performs an integrative review, focusing on seminal literature related to the subject, comparing the epistemological and learning perspectives of Albert Bandura (Social Cognitive Theory - SCT) and Aaron Beck (Cognitive Therapy - CT). Bandura, with reciprocal determinism and human agency, emphasizes observational learning and self-efficacy in an interactionist model. Beck, based on cognitive schemas and constructivism, focuses on cognitive restructuring to modify dysfunctional thoughts and beliefs, especially in psychopathology. Both theories value cognition as a mediator, but differ in emphasis (interactionist vs. intrapsychic) and learning mechanisms (social/agency vs. internal restructuring). Clinical integration is promising, although recent direct comparisons are scarce.
