Educational intervention about the sexuality in adolescents of the Basic Secondary School "Cosme Torres Izquierdo"

Abstract

Introduction: The sexuality is a topic that it has wakened up the interest of men of all the times. Objective: Implement an educational program of intervention in students of the Basic Secondary School "Cosme Torres Izquierdo". Methods: It was carried out a quasi-experimental study in the health´s area of Vázquez, from 2019 to 2021. The universe constituted it 74 adolescents from 11 to 14 years and it was selected by probabilistically method of random sample n=52. The variables were studied: age, sex, educational level, civil state and knowledge has more than enough sexuality in the dimensions: birth-control methods, infections of sexual transmission, pregnancy, abortion, planning family, psychosexual characteristic of the adolescence, causes of frequent change of couple, opinion on the love and couple relationship, sexual relationships during the adolescence. The knowledge was evaluated in bad, regular and well, before and after the intervention that was carried out in three stages: planning, intervention and evaluation. The information was obtained by a questionnaire (pretest and posttest), and it was analyzed through the percentage calculation, average, standard deviation, and to evaluate the effectiveness the statisticians variation coefficient and Ji2. Results: The male sex 61,5% prevailed. After the intervention the knowledge was increased on the birth-control methods (CV = + 100%, X2= 11,3), demonstrating the effectiveness of the carried out intervention (CV = + 100%, X2= 7,4). Conclusions: The changes of the most significant knowledge were on: identification of the birth-control methods, sexual relationships during the adolescence and infections of sexual transmission.
