Abstract

The editorial addresses recent progress in the recovery of vaccination coverage in Brazil, focusing on the strategies implemented between 2023 and 2024 and the challenges for 2025. After a period of sharp decline in vaccination coverage and increased vaccine hesitancy between 2016 and 2022, the National Vaccination Movement and the adoption of microplanning drove a significant recovery. In 2024, vaccines such as BCG and MMR achieved coverage targets of over 90%, while others recorded an average increase of 13% compared to 2022.

Initiatives such as vaccination in schools, the Monitoring of the Vaccination Strategy (MEV) and the introduction of the tetravalent vaccine against dengue reinforced the impact of the actions. In addition, investments in the Health Economic-Industrial Complex and partnerships for the development of new vaccines have expanded national production capacity, positioning Brazil as a global reference in immunization. Despite progress, challenges such as adherence to the COVID-19 vaccine and combating misinformation still persist.

The text concludes by highlighting the goals for 2025, including the introduction of new vaccines, strengthening the fight against misinformation and expanding access to immunobiologicals, with the aim of consolidating progress and ensuring the health of the entire population.
