Abstract

This research investigated the impact of treating COVID-19 patients on the mental health of healthcare professionals in Basic Health Units in Fortaleza, Ceará. It was observed that anxiety was the most common disorder among participants, followed by stress and panic. The study discussed the relationship between these disorders and highlighted the potential of chatbots as a support tool. The proposed chatbot, "Laila," was designed to aid in self-care, providing guidance on managing anxiety symptoms without replacing psychotherapeutic treatment. The intervention aims to promote coping strategies and self-awareness, including identifying dysfunctional beliefs and focusing on the positive aspects of situations. Although the chatbot has not yet been evaluated for its impact on reducing anxiety, its use can expand access to mental health care and facilitate self-management of symptoms among healthcare professionals.
