This article presents partial results of the research project “Community Art Houses: Historical Memory, Identities, and Popular Environmental Education”. The main objective of the research was to create art books to value and preserve the individual and collective identity in Engabao (Guayas) and the “Niño Manuelito” Shelter home (Azogues). The research was conducted with a qualitative approach, focused on action research methods (AR), and through the hermeneutic method (reading-interpretation-creation-recreation), carried out through a pedagogical immersion experience in the mentioned communities, with students from the Pedagogy of Arts and Humanities program at the University of Arts. As a conclusion, this dynamic of educational immersion in the territory considers the art book as an ideal didactic tool for the transfer of knowledge within the community, and as a pertinent and replicable option for artistic praxis in other contexts. This work involved offering artistic, innovative, and creative learning experiences for individuals in depressed contexts.
