The debate about the body has been constant in a number of fields of knowledge, especially in Physical Education. In Brazil, this debate was intensified from the 1980s onwards, when the field of Physical Education began to approach the human sciences. In this field, the Brazilian College of Sports Sciences (CBCE), and its main event, the Brazilian Congress of Sports Sciences (CONBRACE), presented the research of its participants through Thematic Working Groups (GTTs) from 1997. Therefore, the objective of this research is to analyze the conceptions of the body present in the annals of CONBRACE, from 1997 to 2017. This research is quantitative-qualitative through document analysis, with bibliometric characteristics. To compose the data analysis, the search and selection of texts was based on the presence of the word “body” in the title of the text, in the abstract or in the keywords of the oral communications. The results demonstrate that the main conceptions of the body are related to the cultural body; existential body; body organism/machine; subject body/corporeality; and identity/symbolic body, with a strong approximation of this debate with the perspectives of the humanities, social sciences, philosophy, and the arts throughout the investigated period. In conclusion, this study analyzed and presented various trends, which only reality and history as criteria of truth can confirm.
