Vaz Ferreira's morality for intellectuals: A current proposal?

Abstract

The philosophical work of Carlos Vaz Ferreira significantly shapes Latin American philosophy in the twentieth century. With a particular concern to revaluate his thought, this paper rereads one of his fundamental works, Moral para intelectuales (1909), to expose, problematize and point out the current philosophical contribution to the debate on education, public morality and the morality of professions in the postmodern context. The essay closes by emphasizing the dimensions where a possible reappropriation of Vaz Ferreira's philosophy is possible.
