The history of education of Physical Education teachers in Brazil has shown the predominance in the curriculum of the technical-biological approach and the weaknesses of the articulation between the degree courses and the School. The present research seeks to understand how the field of research in the education of Physical Education teachers has been exploring the themes of body and school, using a review of dissertations and theses. A search for theses and dissertations was carried out in two databases: the o Catálogo de Teses e Dissertações – CAPES; and the Banco Digital de Teses e Dissertações (BDTD). There were three search combinations: Formação de professores AND educação física AND corpo AND escola; Formação docente AND educação física AND corpo AND escola; e Licenciatura AND educação física AND corpo AND escola. Repeated papers were excluded and papers that had the research scenario the initial education of Physical Education teachers and that had the two axes of study concomitantly were included. The analysis of the eleven studies found allowed the emergence of three categories: body conceptions; Physical Education and/or body at school; the school as a researched institution. By plunging their lens into understandings of the body, the research revealed an important movement in the field of education Physical Education teachers: the body has had new approaches beyond the biomedical perspective. However, if the body theme has been explored prominently in the set of researches, the school seems to have a mostly circumstantial space.
